Duchess is a 3 zoned Bonnell Spring medium feel pillow top mattress. Bonnell springs are a firmer spring system hence it is designed to provide a firm support for the body. The Centre third of the mattress has extra firm spring to provide extra support for the back. These springs have special edge wire along the perimeter of the mattress with a foam box encasing as added edge support which gives extra support along the edges.  As a result of this added edge support, when you sit on the mattress, it does not collapse under your weight. If the sides collapse, it can cause a person to slide down whilst sitting on the side to get in and out of the bed. The side supports allows a person to sleep right to the edge of the mattress enabling you to utilise the full sleeping area. The foam box also puts minimum pressure on thigh when you sit on the side of the mattress. Generally, imported mattresses or mattresses that come in a box do not come with any of these supports hence they are cheaper. The side supports also provide the stability in the mattress.
